The city officials found the farmstand in violation of a zoning ordinance by selling produce without a permit in a residential area. The produce is harvested from its onsite Jazmin Green Community Garden. The local economy is supported by selling locally procured fruits and vegetables. Thankfully, we didn’t give up hope. Our Executive Director, Wande Okunoren-Meadows, and the communities help provide the farmstand much-needed attention to save it.
Little Lions Farmstand reopened in April 2021 at its first site. It felt like a long-awaited reopening after closure by the city of Forest Park and COVID-19. Today, locally grown produce from our site(s) and other local vendors provide staple food access to Forest Park and Clayton County, Georgia.
